MyClass Online Research

ACCEPTANCE OF ONLINE LEARNING SYSTEM - MYCLASS ONLINE AMONG LECTURERS IN TEACHER EDUCATION INSTITUTE MALAYSIA

Abstract

This study is aimed at investigating the acceptance of online learning system –MyClass Online among lecturers in Teacher Education Institute Malaysia.  This study specifically examined the factors related to the attitude of acceptance towards innovation on the use of MyClass Online, the attitude towards the use of MyClass Online with the desire to use MyClass Online, and the relationships between the desire to use MyClass Online with the usage of MyClass Online system among the lecturers of IPG.  This study is based on the Innovation Process Decision Making  Model (Rogers, 1995) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) (Ngai, Poon & Chan, 2007). 



This study is an investigative study using a quantitative approach.  This study uses two research instruments, namely (1) MyClass Online and (2) a Questionnaire Form.   Data collection is carried out using the questionnaire forms being distributed at random to the lecturers of each department and unit of IPG, Kampus Ipoh.  The number of respondents targeted in this study is 150 people.  All the data obtained through the data collection procedure is analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 15.  A stage by stage simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis is used to determine the relative contribution of each independent variable on the dependent variable.  The findings showed that the perception is the ease of use of MyClass Online as the best predictor of attitude towards the use of MyClass Online.  This is followed by perceived benefits, the highest level of education of the lecturers, teaching experiences, technical support and the age of lecturers contribute to their attitude towards the use of MyClass Online. This finding indicates that the attitude towards the usage of MyClass Online among lecturers are mostly influenced by the perception of ease of use of MyClass Online. While the attitude towards the use of MyClass Online is a significant predictor of the desire to use MyClass Online.  The desire to use MyClass Online is a significant predictor on the usage of theMyClass Online system.
